Frequently Asked Questions
What programming language do you use?
Initially, AutoLisp, then Visual Lisp, then Visual Basic for Applications, then C++ ObjectARX and so on…Now we mostly use Visual Lisp and .NET, they encompass most of the situations we encounter.
Where are you and do you travel to clients?
We are situated in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. We like to do most of our business through email or other electronic communications, but a site visit is sometimes required, which we are happy to accommodate. We can manage projects from afar and have done so on many occasions, depending on the complexity of the project.
We have some older lisp routines that we want loaded into every drawing and in menus, is that something you do?
Yes, and we would also check that your routines are up-to-date and run on the latest version of your AutoCAD product. We can create toolbars for your routines, or build them into your main menu system with partial menus. A few different ways to do things each with their own pros and cons.
What about when AutoDesk upgrades its products, will your customized programs still work?
Yes, and we supply an upgrade utility to update the loading and transfer of our programs, which is run from within the latest version of the AutoCAD product. Almost all of the code we put together is transferable to later versions. There is always a chance that AutoDesk will choose to drop some functionality but as an ADN registered developer, we would know about this ahead of time.
